Alexandra Barth (Malacky, 1989), lives and works in Zohor (Slovakia) and Sanguinetto (Italy). She studied painting at the Fin Art and Design Academy in Bratislava.
Barth explores the potential of airbrush painting, which she uses for her attentive work with the light and textures of portrayed materials. Starting from her own photos or images found from real estate advertisements, Barth observes private spaces and details from the interiors of unknown homes through her minimalistic compositions and carved out reality.
Through curated selection of her own photographic prototypes, she pursues details of furniture or spaces during unfinished reconstructions, discovering dramatization of the everyday. Furthermore, the compositional division of the image is inspired by advertising photography and film camera, which emphasizes the dramatic quality of the scene.
